Our Mission

A Bridge
Between Two Homes

Buna Kurs exists as a bridge between two places beloved by its founder. Sharing elements of our Ethiopian culture and enriching our Richmond community are important to us. Lifting up others in both areas through our business and our charitable work is the best part of what we do.

Our "Why"

Aida, Lily's sister, is a medical professional with a Masters in Public Health who is in the process of building out a charitable organization she has established in Ethiopia.

Enkuselassie Daycare and Support Center for Disabled Children in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia provides critical care and physical therapy for children with disabilities, while offering training, support, and employment to their mothers.

How We Give Back

Sales Donations

A percentage of all Buna Kurs sales will be donated to Enkuselassie Daycare and Support Center, directly supporting children with disabilities and their families.

Job Creation

Mothers in the program will package Ethiopian spices and prepare injera for sale at Buna Kurs, creating sustainable employment opportunities and economic empowerment.

Community Support

The center provides essential care, physical therapy, training, and support—creating a comprehensive network of assistance for families in need.

"Every cup of coffee, every meal shared, every spice purchased helps create opportunities for mothers and care for children in Ethiopia. When you support Buna Kurs, you're part of something bigger."

🇪🇹

Ethiopia

Our first home. Where coffee was born, where our families come from, and where we continue to make a difference through Enkuselassie Center.

🏛️

Richmond

Our second home. Where we've built our community, share our culture, and create a space for connection and hospitality.

Coming Soon

Once Aida's nonprofit is fully established, you'll be able to directly support this mission through every purchase at Buna Kurs. Together, we'll create lasting impact in both Ethiopia and Richmond.

እናመሰግናለን! Thank you!
